Smyrna Chicks

Today my Smyrna chicks took me out for brunch at Panera Bread and to a movie! I had so much and I snapped this picture of them before they drove away! These are three of the most loving, Christ-like women I know! THANKS SO MUCH FOR SPOILING ME!!!!

Frowns & Floss

I knew it was a little too quiet the other day when I found Coco de-spooling the dental floss. The frowns are because she got a lecture, just like she did when she unravelled the toilet paper.

After the Marathon

I forgot about these pictures but after the marathon we stopped by News Channel 5 and scoped out Jared's candy drawer in his office. It was nice to be in a dim, cool sitting place after our long, sunny and humid trek through downtown Nashville.
I tried to get all three girls in the smae picture but it didn't work out.

Yesterday Jared ran the half-marathon in the Country Music Marathon (along with over 30,000 others and over 100,000 spectators) here in Nashville and finished in 2 hours 24 minutes. Even with the big hills and temps in the upper 80's, the runners pushed through! The atmosphere was awesome with live bands playing all along the course and the beautiful sunshine and skyline! We are so proud of Jared and all the hard work and training he has put into it. He's our hero!

Too Little for Lego Love

This is the way I still think of my Scotty--3 years-old and cheeky (and boys still have cooties). On the way home from school today, Scotlyn (in a concerned voice) told me that a boy in her class likes her. She knows he likes her because he has been "acting weird" because he's made her 2 Lego structures "since yesterday". This young man's sidekick told Scotlyn that Lego Man wanted to go out with her. Her reply? "When you see him tell him I'm not allowed to go on dates until I'm sixteen." So it begins. . .

Gift to Baby Girl #4

Here is my rag quilt that I made for baby girl (any name suggestions, peeps?). It's my first sewing project (besides my 9th grade home-ec pillow which never made it past one wash). Scotlyn proudly put the pattern together out of love for her new sister. I think it turned out pretty cute and cozy!

YEEHAW!

Last week, at Girl Scout Camp, Bryn went horse-back riding, hiking, etc. She got all dolled up in this cowgirl outfit and was the cute-inest, rootin-est, tootin-est (LITERALLY) Junior Girl Scout ever!

Girls Just Wanna. . .

. . .have fun-raisers! Bryn, Taylor and Ashley had a lemonade/chocolate-covered-strawberries stand at Jill's house today. They made a whopping $39 and decided to give all the money to Vanderbilt Children's Hospital to help sick kids! Jill found out where to send the money and the girls each wrote a letter of why they wanted to donate this money. So heartwarming and touching! I am so very proud of these amazing girls and all they accomplished in one afternoon! Can you imagine what damage they will do in 10 years? (Photos by Jill)

Cheesy Cheesecake

The girls at the Cheesecake Factory on Saturday. We finally used up the rest of my Green Hills Mall gift card! Good times, good times! I highly recommend the Raspberry Lemon Cheesecake! YUMMY!!!

Princess Patient

Coco had ear tube replacement and an adenoidectomy on March 17. Here she is before she was wheeled away--a little on the loopy side. She did well and is recovering like a champ!

Shamrocks O' Mine

We had green cake the day before St. Patrick's Day! The leprechauns left all sorts of green candy in the girls shoes (I forgot to get a picture).

Lucky Charm

Shore to be shore! I must have gotten lucky because for Christmas my jewel of a husband bought me a 4 leaf clover necklace like the one above ('cept mine is cuter). Anyhoo, we are over the rainbow to report that in August we are expecting our 4th leaf on that clover--another little girl!! Here she is--our pot of gold! Happy St. Patty's Day! (No, we will not be naming her Patty).

Harlem Globetrotters

I got to fulfill a lifelong dream a couple of nights ago when I got to see the Harlem Globetrotters in person. Ever since I was a kindergartener and watched the Globetrotters on Sesame Street I was intrigued. It was especially fun to witness one of Jared's co-workers, reporter Nick Beres, play with them for 2 minutes of the game as a guest! It was hilarious! Plus, listening to Scotlyn's cute, contagious laugh the ENTIRE time was extra special for me! She was eating it up!

The Big Chair

We went to the Factory in Franklin a few weekends ago. There is a HUGE chair in there and I put my 3 dollies in it and snapped their picture.

A Funny

Super Bee

Scotlyn was one of 2 children in her class chosen for the school's Writer's Night. She had to write and illustrate a story and then read it to her peers and their parents. She did an awesome job! Her story was about a bumble bee superhero! Love that girl!

She Drove All Night

We went to the Celine Dion concert back in January. I had a great time! I definitely think she's better in person although I still probably wouldn't buy her CD's. She has a great sense of humor, though, and it was fun to hear her talk about stuff.

Bryn Update

Bryn and Jared went on a daddy-daughter date the other night to see Riverdance (Irish dancing). They had a great time although they weren't allowed to take pictures in the TPAC (Tennessee Performing Arts Center). Bryn loved it and she got her program autographed by a Russian dancer that also performed there.

The next day, Bryn sang the national anthem at a senior citizens center for Girl Scouts--hope she earned a badge for that. I'm proud of you, Bryn!

Attention Deficit Disorder

Dear Blog,

I guess I've been on a blogging hiatus. Apparently, this is not too different than when I was a kid. Back then, I would write in my diary regularly and then a flashy something like Atari or making friendship bracelets would lure me in and I guess I couldn't find time to do both. I'd forget about my dear friend, the diary, for months at a time. Eventually, when I wanted to vent or rave about my life, I'd dig it up again and write to my heart's content. . .always signing "Sincerely yours, Sandra D."

Facebook has been my recent little sparkly thing that's veered me away from you at this time in my life. As I'm slowing rehabilitating myself from my Facebook addiction, I am remembering the fun I used to have with you. The pictures, the comments, the pride in the girls' faces when they got to read about what I'm sharing about them. I missed you, blog, and I'm back.

Seven

My little Scotlyn Rhys is 7 years old today! Here are seven facts about our Scotty:

1. She LOVES to read. Most days, after school, she can be found around the house with her nose stuck in a book!
2. Tinkerbell is her favorite character. She knows all the other fairies names and magical powers, but I think she identifies with Tink's attitude. . .ahem.
3. When Scotlyn laughs, she doesn't just giggle. It's an out-loud, air-pushing, woodpecker sounding laugh! I LOVE IT!!!
4. Like mother, like daughter, Scotlyn loves arts and crafts. She has a creative spirit and is a talented artist.
5. She loves peanut butter toast! She has at least 2 slices everyday.
6. She's pretty athletic and enjoys rock climbing the most. For her career choice, she'd like to be a horse jockey.
7. Last, but my most favorite thing about Scotlyn is that she's always thinking about and giving to others. She wants to make sure everyone is happy and comfortable at all times.

I love you, Scotty! Happy Birthday!

Lil Sluggers

We took Grandma to the Louisville Slugger Museum and Factory for one of her Christmas gifts. We also took a jaunt across the river into Indiana where we ate dinner. We had a ball!

Oh Henry!

One of my favorite memories from Christmas this year was of Grandma Turner making Oh Henry bars with the girls! They were so eager to help and I hope they will always have great memories and continue the tradition of making them every Christmas for their families someday.

Plum Fun

I went to Janet Evanavich's "Plum Spooky" book signing. These were taken with my camera phone so they are really poor quality, but you get the idea. Janet wasn't overly friendly or talkative. Yes, I expected her to be a little spicy since she created the saucy characters in her books, but she seemed quite the opposite. I still had "plum" fun!
