"Scot"-ch Blessing

The girls start school this week and Jared gave them father's blessings tonight. Before he started the blessings we started to sing some hymns to get into the spirit. Well, after just one verse of "Families Can Be Together Forever", Scotty said, "Uh, can we just skip the singing and get on with the blessing part?" We all started laughing at her sincerity. We always have a good time around blessing time. Last year after Jared started the blessing saying her full name, Scotty said, "Yeah?" We all laughed and Jared explained to her that he was giving her a blessing and this wasn't a conversation. Well, he stated her name again and still she gave the same response, "Yeah?". It took 3 times for her to get it, but now we will reminisce about it every time she gets a blessing.

New-s

In February, Jared's station built a new studio along with announcing their new HDTV format (the only station in Tennessee that has HDTV format). All of the employees toured the new studio (and Jared took pictures) which once was the home of "Hee-Haw". Also, this is the same news station that Oprah once worked at. Now that's news! Tee-hee!

DDDD to Mo-Tab

The Mormon Tabernacle Choir came to Nashville! Jared took the girls on a DDDD (Daddy-Daughter-Daughter-Date) to see them. Jared said it was excellent! The girls loved it although Scotty fell asleep during their rendition of "Somewhere Over the Rainbow." Jared talked with a former KUTV co-worker who now works for KSL helping Carole Mikita with her assignments. Small world.

I've Got Georgia on My Mind

In June we took our summer/10th Anniversary trip to Atlanta, GA! We did just about everything there is to do in Atlanta. We even went to The High Museum of Art and a Braves vs. Cubs game at Turner Field. Awww, I love the name of that baseball park. . .

Nashville, TN Temple

Yesterday I got my temple recommend renewed. I just have to say how incredibly lucky we are here in Nashville to have a temple. It took many, many years for a temple site to be purchased here. Most people had to go clear to Salt Lake City until the Atlanta temple was built 4 hours away. The Church had tried numerous times to build one in Nashville but to no avail. Many Nashvillians did not want anything related to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints near them. Finally, a temple was built on the property of an existing Stake Center. The temple is actually smaller than the Stake Center, but it sure is beautiful and the work's still the same!

"'A-Ha" Moment

On Saturday I was folding laundry and Coco came in and started rummaging through Scotlyn's basket. She found a pair of her panties and put them on her head. She insisted it was "a ha" (a hat). "My ha, my ha" she kept saying. Good thing they were clean! YIKES!!!

Spam-yella

Danielle may be moving to Nashville!! Okay, so I may be jumping the gun a bit. She said she would apply for a job in the Brentwood area and I'll check out the singles scene for her. She came to visit us in May and I couldn't believe how much fun we had! In fact, we had so much fun that I (as seen in this picture) cried and cried at the airport when we she had to go back. BOO-HOO! Danielle is the type of friend that even though you haven't seen each other for so long, you can just pick up like you've never been gone. Okay, Danielle, get the job!

Stitcher-ific

I love stitching. It's relaxing and fun. My friend, Kerrah, taught me how to make them a few years ago and I've enjoyed it ever since. Here is a sample of one in my home. Also, the header for my blog is a stitchery that I have in my home. The other day a few friends in my ward came over and I taught them how to make them. I think I got them stoked about making them, too! By the way, if anybody wants to purchase stitcheries from me for gifts or for themselves, I am happy to take your order!

Quacky

So, a couple of days ago the girls found the costume box I've been trying to hide. McKoy would not take off this duck costume. She wore it ALL DAY. She refused to let me take it off even at bedtime. Anytime she would get in trouble that day she would pull the duck-head hood up over her head and pout. It was funny. Yesterday morning, McKoy was eating her "si-e-o" and I was rushing around the kitchen trying to get ready to go to the water park in Smyrna and I kept looking at her and she would take a bite and then fold her arms and bow her head. She did this a few times before I realized we had not said the breakfast prayer and so I said, "Let's say a prayer." She smiled really big and bowed her head and closed her eyes while I said it and when I was done she giggled really hard implying that she was really relieved that we finally said the prayer. She QUACKS me up!

Scotty Sayings

Scotty says the funniest things. I am glad I have this blog so that I can start putting the things she says somewhere where I can look back on them someday. The other day a little boy was at our house playing "house" with her and she told him, "Come on, honey, let's go to Sam's Club!" She thinks being married is about going to Sam's Club. Jared loved that, of course, since it's his favorite store in the world. Last night she gave Bryn her toothbrush when she came to the bathroom and when Bryn thanked her, Scotty said, " You're welcome. I'm trying to be a better person." Also, the other day she said to Coco, "Coco, you are acceptable. That's all."

Beautiful Bryn

Forever Family

In August 2006 we went the Bonneville Salt Flats to take Bryn's baptism pictures. Jared set up the tripod and we took this family picture. It's one of the only family pictures we've ever taken.

Sugar & Spice & Sour Cream

Bryn is the sugar, Scotty is the spice and Coco is the sour cream. McKoy LOVES sour cream. She eats it on everything. In fact, she basically will eat that and not the food it's on. She cracks me up. I'm so happy my girls have each other. Although they fight now, I know they'll be the best of friends someday as all sisters should. They all get a kick out of each other.
